turning 30
when i was a teenager, i couldn't wait to turn 20... when i was 20-something, for some reason, i didn't want to turn 30... do you feel the same??
there was a saying... 'tambah umur, itu pasti... tambah dewasa, itu pilihan...' translated: 'getting older, that's for sure... getting wiser, that's a choice...'
turning 30... my wish is to get wiser as my age gets older... may God help me to be a better person... ameen...

for you who has been reading my blog since last year must be familiar with the old theme... rainbow... so colourful...
one day i come across a simple blog yet the design is easy-on-eyes from here... i like its simplicity, and i think it suits my personality better... now the biggest obstacle! knowing very little about css and/or html, modifying a template to your need is not an easy project...
so lucky i was... i have friends who are willing to help me... one is my friend in sydney who spent hours and hours trying to fix little stuff to achieve perfection... thanks brad...
another is a new friend... whom i never met but has been so kind to help me in this project... our mutual friend only introduced us in yahoo messenger!!... but he doesn't mind helping me... what a wonderful person... bintar, thank you ya...
bye bye rainbow... thanks for giving my blog so much colour in the past (almost) half year...

sinetron OB
sejak jadi pengangguran di jakarta awal january kemarin, aku jadi rajin nonton TV (dari dulu juga dah rajin sih, tapi sekarang jadi lebih rajin!)... dan salah satu acara favoritku ya... sinetron OB di RCTI setiap Senin sampai Jumat jam 5 sore... ulangannya setiap hari juga jam 7.30 pagi...ngeliat ulah-ulah lucu office boy (OB) dan girl di OK TV ini, bisa sedikit banyak melampiaskan hobbyku nonton acara-acara komedi...
3 tahun di Melbourne, aku gak pernah lagi ngerasain convenientnya punya orang-orang yang bisa ngebantu kita dalam hal-hal kecil di kantor ini... kalo lagi sibuk pun, ya semua harus dikerjain sendiri...
sekilas, sinetron OB tuh sepertinya diproduksi dengan dana yang tidak terlalu besar... karna settingnya mirip seperti sandiwara-sandiwara jaman dulu yang gak pernah berubah... kostum pun gak pernah berubah... tapi ini tidak ngurangin kemampuan sitkom ini buat bikin penontonnya tertawa sejenak dan ngelupain kesulitan-kesulitan hidup untuk sesaat...
bonusnya, setiap episode... ada aja bintang tamu dari artis-artis terkenal... coba deh nonton... mungkin bisa sedikit menghibur kamu-kamu... =)

curse of the golden flower
that's the english title... the chinese title is man cheng jin dai huang jin jia... please, don't ask me what it means cause i wouldn't know hahaha...anyway... have you seen this movie? it was on your local cinema a little while ago... well, i missed it so i bought the dvd and watched it at home...
first time i saw the ad on one billboard not long after i arrived in jakarta early jan... the pictures instantly grabbed my attention... the leading actor, Chow Yun Fat is my all-time fave actor... i remember watching lots of his movies when i was a kid... my favourite? hong kong tv series called 'The Bund'... again that's the english title... i knew it by Shanghai tan which means Shanghai Beach... set in 1930's Shanghai...
the leading actress is Gong Li... who also starred in famous 'Memoirs of a Geisha' a year ago...
too busy catching up with friends, i missed watching it in cinema... so i have to wait until the dvd is out... finally, i can watch it!!!... good entertainment!!! if you want to watch a movie, this could be a good option...
usually i like a happy ending... this movie doesn't meet that criteria though... but the costumes!!! oh my... so gorgeous!!! and i think boys will like this movie too!!!... you'll know what i mean when you watch it... *wink*
reviews are predicting that it will win some awards... i think definitely in costumes... and probably in best international movie...

disaster by disaster...
news.bbc.co.ukeither natural disaster or transportation disaster, apparently it has not stopped hitting my home country, Indonesia...
late december a passenger ferry sank in a storm in Java Sea... Adam Air plane crashed into the ocean and disappeared on New Years Day... big flood in Jakarta... Levina sank near Tanjung Priok port... then earthquake in West Sumatra yesterday... and this morning Garuda plane crashed and then burst into flames on landing at Yogyakarta airport...
can you imagine what the victims' family have to go through... must be tremendous sadness...
i really hope this would be the last one...

cewe mandiri...
menurut pendapat beberapa orang, jadi cewe itu gak boleh terlalu mandiri... katanya mungkin itu penyebab cewe itu gak laku2 hehehe... karna konon, cowo2 tuh seneng kalo merasa dibutuhkan... dan cewe mandiri memberi kesan gak membutuhkan orang2 sekitarnya, apalagi makhluk yang namanya cowo... tapi, apa iya sih?? hari gini lho... masa cewe gak boleh mandiri sih?? seiring dengan tuntutan jaman, cewe2 mau donk ikutan serba bisa seperti kaum cowo... masa cuma cowo2 aja yang boleh... sayang donk perjuangan ibu kartini kita...
mandiri itu kan positif ya... bukan berarti trus mereka gak butuh lagi cowo untuk melindungi... tapi kebutuhannya mungkin jadi agak lain sekarang... cewe2 mandiri lebih membutuhkan partner... yang bisa menghargai... ketimbang suami yang menuntut untuk dilayani...
jadi, buat cowo2... jangan kuatir gak akan dibutuhkan ya sama cewe2 mandiri... =)
independent girl...
some people tend to think, that a girl should not be too independent... perhaps that's why she's still single hehehe... because apparently, boys like to feel needed... and independent girl gives out the impression that she doesn't need anyone, let alone boys... but, is that true?? in this era... how come girls can't be independent?? with the current era expectation, girls also want to be multi-skilled like boys... why only boys are allowed... pity, the effort of our ibu kartini maybe wasted... ibu kartini is the lady hero who fought for women education in indonesia...
i guess being independent is positive... not necessarily mean that girls no longer need the boys to protect them... but maybe the need is changing... independent girls need partner... who can respect them... instead of a husband who expect to be served...
so boys... don't worry for not being needed by independent girls, ok... =)
